Is walking an effective way to lose weight?

May 18, 2009

Hi all, I recently started to walk/jog on a daily basis. I cannot run for more than half a mile at a time and want to build my endurance up so I jog for half a mile than walk….during the walk, can I still burn off calories at a decent pace. if not, what can I do during my walk to increase weight loss (use dumbells for example) thanks

Walking if an effective way to:

see the world each morning, in a good light, which will put you into a happy mood;

hike up your metabolism, digest your meals, get the oxygen flowing from your lungs into yr bloodstream;

increase your fitness from the ground up, as it were.

Also, you get to see your neighbours, notice news in the neighbourhood, feel the fresh breeze on your face

and

feel every fibre of your being , from the soles of your feet to the top of your head.

Now, if you happen to lose a pound or two, that's a bonus.
